Every year, CCWL hosts a Philanthropy Luncheon in honor of the commitment of sororities. It allows for attendees and special guests to come together as passionate Greek women leaders to celebrate our collective desire and ability to improve the circumstances of girls and women around the globe.
At this year’s Annual Conference for Greek Women Leaders, the Philanthropy Luncheon, sponsored by MantraBand, will highlight Circle of Sisterhood, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of global poverty and oppression through the gifts and talents of sorority women across the country.
Since its founding in 2010, Circle of Sisterhood has been able to grant over $1 million to organizations working in 24 different countries and has funded 16 school builds in Makawi, Senegal, Haiti, Nepal, and Nicaragua.
As college-educated women who understand the value of education, the Coalition for Collegiate Women’s Leadership (CCWL) believes we have an obligation to help girls around the world to go to school — as our Founders did for us over 160 years ago when sororities first appeared in the United States. Those brave women wanted a college education and had to fight for their rights to achieve higher learning. In an effort to combat the ridicule and oppression they experienced every day, they formed sororities to provide one another with support, strength, and sisterhood.
